Hyderabad: Over 150 students participated in the ‘Moon Rover design competition’ organised by the Planetary Society, India, in association with SEDS –Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore. The competitions were held as part of Moon Rover campaign.
Designs proposed by six students were selected and they would be considered for next level of project. The students are: Shruti (Rosary Convent School), Kruti Mohan (St. Anthony’s School), Badrinath and K. Varun (St. Paul’s School), Vineet Cherian (St. Joseph’s School) Nikhil Sharma (All Saints School) and Varna Peter (Sri International School).
Models proposed by the winners would be made into static or working models. The Planetary Society would make a working model of best design and submit the same to ISRO on the eve of India’s mission to Moon Chandrayaan to be launched on April 9, 2008. All the designs proposed would be available for public from September 29 on http://moonrover.blogspot.com, according to N Raghunandan Kumar, founder secretary of the Society.
