MALAPPURAM: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) took out a march to Air-India office here on Thursday in protest against the airline’s neglect of Malabar and the alleged “cruelty to Gulf passengers travelling through Calicut International Airport at Karipur.” Manjalamkuzhi Ali, MLA, inaugurated the march in which hundreds of young men and women took part. DYFI district president V.P. Anil and district secretary K.P. Anil addressed the marchers. The police stopped the march in front of the Air-India office at Kizhakkethala. DYFI leaders, who submitted a memorandum to Air-India officials, had an exchange of words with the latter over the issue of alleged fleecing of passengers travelling through Karipur. Air-India officials denied any knowledge demanding extra money for ticket confirmation from Karipur. Mr. Ali accused Air-India of playing double-standards in the case of Malabar. He warned that the Pravasi Sanghom would join the DYFI in its agitation against Air-India if the airline did not stop neglecting the passengers of Malabar.
