Permission sought to open Virk’s lockers

Rupnagar (Punjab): The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has moved an application in a court here, seeking permission to open the lockers of former State DGP S. S. Virk, who is in judicial custody in cases of disproportionate assets and land grab.

Hearing the case, District and Sessions judge Rekha Mittal fixed Sept 27 for hearing the application.

Virk, a 1972 batch IPS official of Maharashtra cadre, was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau on September 9 from Delhi and was brought to Punjab.

The former DGP is presently undergoing treatment at PGI, Chandigarh, where he was admitted a day after his arrest.
