Naidu makes a U-turn on A.P. power situation

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party N. Chandrababu Naidu did a political somersault on Thursday by announcing that nine-hour free quality power supply daily to the farm sector would be included in the party’s election manifesto.

Briefing press persons on the Polit Bureau meeting, Mr. Naidu found nothing wrong with the decision saying farmers needed to be supported along with other inputs, as they continued to be in crisis.

Moreover Andhra Pradesh’s income has gone up and reforms in power sector were yielding results now.

He said he had not opposed free power scheme but wanted it to be deferred till the reforms came to fruition.
