Medical negligence alleged in woman’s death

K. Balchand

PATNA: A woman’s two-and-a-half month struggle against alleged ‘criminal negligence’ by surgeons ended with her death in Darbhanga on Wednesday.

Chandai Devi breathed her last at the Darbhanga Medical College Hospital never recovering from the infection reportedly caused by a towel allegedly left inside her stomach by an orthopaedic surgeon Chandreshwar Chaudhary on July 8.

‘Towel removed’

Another surgeon had operated on her on July 22 and pulled out the towel.

He video graphed his entire operation and exposed the alleged misdeed of his colleague.

Body sent for autopsy

The district authorities have sent the body for post-mortem to ascertain the actual cause of death of the woman.

The district officials maintained that they would initiate legal action against those responsible for the death of the woman.
