The grand premiere of the Indian Film Festival was held at the Scale Theatre, London, on September 23 with the screening of “Pyaasa”. The distinguished audience included British MPs and leading members of the British, US and Indian film world. Before the premiere, Mr. John Davis, Managing Director of the Rank Organisation, in his presidential address, said films had a purpose to bring various peoples together. “Indian films, made by Indians, are being shown in this Western theatre. We are going to learn about the 360 million people of India through their films.”
