BANGALORE: IBSF World billiards champion Pankaj Advani, who retained the crown in the time format for the second time, was accorded a felicitation at the KSBA on Thursday.
He was presented a cheque of Rs. 25000 by KOA president K. Govindaraj.
Urged in his speech, K.S. Srikanth, secretary, Dept. of Sports, Govt. of Karnataka, promised a sum ‘not less than Rs. one lakh’ for Pankaj, who is also the recipient of the prestigious Ekalavya Award for excellence in sports, from the State government this year.
Site will be given
The site promised by the previous government after his 2003 IBSF World snooker championship title was yet to come his way and Mr. Srikanth promised to move the file immediately, on receiving an application from the State Association.
When pointed out that cricketers had not applied for the cash bonuses and house promised by Sahara Group, Mr. Srikanth assured that in this regard a token application would suffice.
Advani was also presented with mementoes by Jain Heights.
