Bangalore: For the first time, people of the State can get to see results of the urban local bodies online, minutes after they are announced. State Election Commissioner M.R. Hegde told presspersons that the commission and the National Information Centre (NIC) officials would announce the results from the commission’s office here. Mr. Hegde said the NIC had commended the State Election Commission for implementing such a measure for the first time in the country. The results can be accessed at www.karsec.gov.in. The returning officers have been asked to send the results to the commission soon after the counting is completed. Most results would be out by 2 p.m. and that of the palikes by 5 p.m. on September 30. He said that Chief Election Commissioner N. Gopalaswami had suggested that other States emulate Karnataka. Later, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh took the aid of the State Election Commission and used the software developed by it, he added.
