Staff Reporter

To cater to higher education needs of students in Aranthangi

PUDUKOTTAI: The Aranthangi Chamber of Commerce has urged the State Government to start an engineering college in Aranthangi town to cater to the higher educational needs of students hailing from economically weaker sections in the coastal parts of the district.

In a memorandum to the Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, the president of the Chamber L. Kailasanathan said that a large number of students passing their higher secondary education from several villages in and around Aranthangi, Manamelkudi and Avudaiyarkovil were finding it difficult to continue their higher education.

Memorandum to CM

Pointing out that the economic backwardness had been a major bottleneck for many students in pursuing their higher education, the memorandum sought the Chief Minister’s immediate action for starting an engineering college in Aranthangi.
