“Pay our salaries”

THENI: The Tamil Nadu State Primary Cooperative Bank All Workers Association has announced a series of agitations, as the government failed to pay salaries to thousands of PACB employees for the past 30 months.

First, they will stage demonstration before the office of Joint Registrar of Cooperatives in Theni on Friday and open gruel centre in Periyakulam on October 5 to draw attention of the government. If the government fails to consider their demands, they will go for an indefinite strike from October 8, according to N. Pandurangan, district president of the Association.

In a press release here on Thursday, he said over, 32,000 out of total 60,000 employees in 4,650 PACBs in the State have been working without salaries for the past three years.

Three meetings the association had with top officials of the Department of Cooperatives earlier did not solve their problems.

They demanded immediate payment of salaries and arrears to all employees.
