It pays to be cautious and vigilant. And this had been proved indeed in the peaceful conduct of Ganesh Nimajjanam.
Never in the past Ganesh idols procession was monitored to such an extent that the placement of cameras at strategic locations all along the procession route and their link-up with the Police Control Room gave the authorities every opportunity to be in control of the situation, every second.
The absolute security measures in place without being obvious to the public nor hampering their movement on a day when thousands participated in the procession, paid off results.
What more, for a city recovering from the recent violent incidents, the invisible security blanket thrown on the city thanks to the hi-tech monitoring equipment, went a long way in easing the psychological fear that has enveloped the citizens.
With police officials indicating that the monitoring of all sensitive areas in the city through hidden cameras is here to stay, many feel that the city should be back to its normal self in the coming days.
