Free entry for students at city zoo

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Students will be allowed free entry into the city zoo during the Wildlife Week beginning October 2. Arrangements have also been made to provide wildlife conservation awareness to those who visit the zoo during the week, a press note issued here said.

A host of competitions will also be organised during the week for school and college students and the Vijayakumara Ganakan memorial rolling trophy will be given away to the institution that wins the maximum points in these competitions.

On October 2 there will be painting competitions for children in the Kinder garten, primary, high school and college students. The next day there will be story telling competitions for Kinder garten and primary school students and elocution competition for high school and college students.

Essay writing for high school and college students will be held on October 4. A conservation education programme for high school and college students organised in collaboration with WWF-Kerala will be held on October 5.

The quiz competition for high school and college students will take place on October 6 and the poster painting competitions for college students, on October 7.

The valedictory function of the Wildlife Week celebrations and the distribution of prizes will be held on October 8. Further details can be had from the Planning Officer, Department of Museums and Zoos. Mobile 9946038625.
