NEW DELHI: The Delhi State Committee of Janwadi Mahila Samiti organised a demonstration at Shram Shakti Bhawan here on Thursday demanding arrest of the culprit behind the criminal assault on a young woman doctor of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation Hospital in Moti Nagar this past week. The delegation was led by All-India Democratic Women’s Association vice-president Brinda Karat. AIDWA general secretary Sudha Sundaraman also addressed the gathering which was attended by members of the victim’s family among others. The delegation handed over a memorandum to the Secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Sudha Pillai, demanding arrest of the culprit and an action against the hospital authorities for their handling of the incident. They demanded enhanced security measures at the hospital. “We demanded that the victim be provided financial support. Ms. Pillai offered to shift the victim to AIIMS and said the cost of treatment would be borne by the Labour Ministry,” said a Samiti office-bearer.
