Newlyweds’ row turns fatal for wife Crime notes

BANGALORE: A newly married woman was clubbed to death allegedly by her husband at their house in Rajagopalanagar police station limits on Wednesday night. Bheemavva (20) died on the spot and her husband Bheemappa (24) stabbed himself in the abdomen with a knife. He has been admitted in Victoria Hospital and he was out of danger, the police said.

Bheemappa of Gulbarga district had married Bheemavva three months ago. The couple, both workers, were residents of a hutment in II Stage, Peenya. Following a spat, Bheemappa hit his wife on the head with a club, the police said. The Rajagopalanagar police have registered a case.

Recovered

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials have arrested three persons who had allegedly made away with gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees after diverting the attention of people and salespersons at jewellery shops. The police have recovered gold ornaments estimated at Rs. 2.15 lakh from the arrested: Rustum alias Akbar Ali (40), Javid alias Abid (23) and Shabber Khan (19), all residents of Alipura in Gauribidanur taluk of Chickaballapur district. The police said that a month ago, the three had made away with gold ornaments estimated at Rs. 1.20 lakh from Chemmanur Jewellers in Hoskote after diverting the attention of salesperson. The images captured by the CCTV at the shop helped the police in tracing the accused.

There is information that they had operated even in Tamil Nadu and Kerala and investigations were on in this regard, the police said.

Fake gold biscuits

The CCB staff has arrested Samuel John (28) of Midnapore district in West Bengal on charge of cheating and seized from him 32 fake gold biscuits and one genuine gold biscuit.

Samuel approached people who had vowed to offer gold ornaments to temples and offered them gold biscuits at cheaper prices. After showing them a genuine gold biscuit, he gave them copper-coated ones, the police said. He was arrested near the Banashankari temple when he was trying to lure customers, the police said.

Vehicles recovered

The Ramamurthynagar police arrested two persons on charge of burglary and vehicle theft and recovered from them four two-wheelers, gold ornaments, silver articles and electronic goods estimated at Rs. 5 lakh.

The arrested were identified as Saravana (25) and Tirumalai (20), both from Vellore district of Tamil Nadu.
