For the people: Coimbatore MP K. Subbarayan addressing the residents of Puluvapatty, Pandian Nagar, Anna Nagar and Kuthampalayam and cadres of Communist Party of India who observed a fast demanding house site pattas in Tirupur on Thursday.
TIRUPUR: Coimbatore MP, K. Subbarayan, on Thursday urged Revenue authorities to distribute house site pattas to 800 families living on poramboke lands in Nerupperichal panchayat, near here, for the last 32 years.
At a fast observed by the residents and supporters of the Communist Party of India led by former president of the panchayat P. Duraisamy, Mr. Subbarayan said that the party would organise a series of agitations if the authorities failed to issue pattas.
The families, which live in Puluvapatty, Pandian Nagar, Anna Nagar and Kuthampalayam Pirivu in Nerupperichal panchayat, had been denied pattas citing that they lived on ‘eri poramboke’.
Considering that there was no water body, the State Government should distribute the pattas, Mr. Subbarayan said.
He also said that he would take up the issue with the Chief Minister.
Taluk secretary of the party M. Ravi inaugurated the agitation. Panchayat union council member M. Mohan and Thottipalayam panchayat president C. Rangasamy spoke.
