TIRUPUR: Councillors of various political parties on Thursday criticised the Tirupur Municipality for the delay in executing development works across the town.
Former MLA and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary C. Sivasamy said that there was no progress in the construction of school buildings, bridges and toilets for the last several months. He urged the authorities to construct public toilets in his ward and take steps to remove encroachments in the old bus stand.
The Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam councillor S. Santhamani complained that the streets remained littered as conservancy workers did not clear garbage. Communist Party of India councillors wanted basic amenities in unapproved areas.
