CHENNAI: Minister for Rural Industries Pongalur N. Palanisamy has directed the Tamilnadu Small Industries Corporation Limited (TANSI) to revise its monthly production target to meet a major order placed by the Education Department.
The Minister, who undertook a surprise check on the TANSI corporate office and its Guindy units on Tuesday, said the monthly capacity had to be raised to 27,000 desks and benches if the order was to be executed on time. TANSI Furniture Works in Guindy is executing the order for supplying 1,90,140 steel desks and benches apart from 15,845 sets of wooden chairs and steel tables.
He observed that all TANSI units in Guindy were running on profit and the production of articles valued at Rs. 29 crore up to August this year was encouraging.
