ANANTAPUR: Differences between fans of actors Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna reached a flashpoint here on Thursday over the issue of arranging cut-outs of Chiranjeevi’s son Ramcharan Teja, whose debut film ‘Chiruta’ is scheduled for release on Friday. The two sides deployed their ‘forces’ on the Ganga-Gowri theatres complex since Thursday morning -- one to put up a huge cut out of Ramcharan Teja on the theatre premises and the other group to prevent it. The issue assumed significance as the leaders of both fans’ associations are from the ruling Congress. Fans associations of the two heroes came to an understanding two years ago not to erect cut outs of their heroes or their kin in any theatre in the town after a cut-out of Pavan Kalyan of his film ‘Annavaram’ was allegedly burnt by fans of Balakrishna. Since then no cut-outs of either Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna or their kin were being erected in the town during the release of their films. However, fans of Chiranjeevi planned to erect a huge cut-out of their hero’s son, who is making debut terming it as an exception. But, the Balakrishna fans did not agree to it. Local Congress legislator B. Narayana Reddy held talks with the leaders of both the fans associations, mostly Congress leaders, twice on Wednesday but to no avail. Anantapur DSP G.S. Karunakar summoned both sides in the evening and warned them against resorting to any untoward incident.
