Case filed against Army men
Special Correspondent
SRINAGAR: The condition of Sub-Inspector Abdur Rehman, injured in an attack by Army personnel in Handwara on Wednesday, is deteriorating. The police have registered a case of attempt to murder against a Company Commander of 33 Rashtriya Rifles and his men.
Doctors at the Soura Medical Institute told The-Hindu that Mr. Rehman, in-charge of the Magam police post in Handwara district, had received serious head injuries.
Mr. Rehman and five other policemen were injured when a posse of the 33 RR beat them ruthlessly. The RR men also “looted many things from the post.”
The incident occurred when a police party seized 48 barrels of kerosene from two men. They said it belonged to a unit of RR 33 Bn, but the policemen asked them to get documentary proof from the Army.
