NEW DELHI: The Delhi State Committee of Janwadi Mahila Samiti organised a demonstration at Shram Shakti Bhawan here on Thursday demanding the arrest of the culprit behind the criminal assault on a woman doctor of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation Hospital in Paschim Vihar this past week.

The delegation was led by All-India Democratic Women’s Association vice-president Brinda Karat. AIDWA general secretary Sudha Sundararaman also addressed the gathering, which was attended by members of the victim’s family.

The delegation handed over a memorandum to the Secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Sudha Pillai, demanding the arrest of the culprit and immediate action against the hospital authorities for their handling of the incident. They demanded more security at the hospital.

“We also demanded that the victim be provided financial support. Ms. Pillai offered to shift the victim to the AIIMS and said the cost of treatment would be borne by the Labour Ministry,” said a Janwadi Mahila Samiti office-bearer.
