NEW DELHI: To give Indians a choice of having personalised e-mail identities, Microsoft on Thursday unveiled over 250 custom domains powered by Windows Live Hotmail. This follows the announcement of its first custom domain — Lokhandwalarocks.com — in May and the enhancements to Windows Live Hotmail, including increased storage limits to 5 GB. Launching the new initiative, Microsoft India’s Country Manager (Online Services Business) Jaspreet Bindra said: “Our research shows that the youth today want their own identity and there are not enough e-mail identities available to truly describe one’s personality. This led us to roll out a comprehensive list of free personalised e-mail ids that will allow users more choice in an e-mail id with all the added features of their Windows Live Hotmail account.” Microsoft has decided to introduce more new custom domains for users over the next few months and also look at feedback from users and communities to provide its users more personalised e-mail ids on demand, said Mr. Bindra. The various categories on www.coolhotmail.com will list a number of custom domains that describe a user’s personality, indicate where they live, personify their tastes and likes and much more. According to the company’s Product Head (Windows Live Services) Samir Saraiya: “Windows Live Hotmail will now give users a high degree of customisation with innovative, cool and self-descriptive customised domains and a platform to express their unique personality in the vast online world.”
