Congress wins Chikmagalur ZP post

CHIKMAGALUR: Chandramma Manjunath of the Congress and P.J. Antony, a rebel Janata Dal (Secular) candidate, were unanimously elected president and vice-president of the Chikmagalur Zilla Panchayat here on Thursday. With this, the Congress has avenged its humiliation at the hands of the Janata Dal (S) when its official candidates were defeated by a rebel Congress candidate supported by the BJP and the Janata Dal (S) for the second 10 month period of the first term.
