Dravidar Kazhagam activists stage demonstration to condemn ‘fatwa’

TIRUPUR: Activists of Dravidar Kazhagam on Friday staged a demonstration near Kumaran Square here urging the Central and Uttar Pradesh Governments to arrest former Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Parliament Ram Vilas Vetandi for allegedly issuing a ‘fatwa’ against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.

The protestors raised slogans asking the Centre to implement the Sethusamudram Ship Canal Project without any delay by dredging the Adam’s Bridge for the economic development of southern districts of the State.

District President of the Dravidar Kazhagam, S. Velusamy, presided over the agitation, in which Yazh Thileepan, S. Singaravelu and district secretary R. Arumugam and several others spoke, highlighting several of the issues.
