BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Friday stayed the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) by the Revenue Department against M.R. Jayaram of M.S. Ramaiah Institutions, his brother and Congress MLA from Malleswaram, M.R Seetharam, and others. The petitioners, Mr. Jayaram and others who are directors of Gokul Farms, had moved the court against the decision of the Tahsildar to lodge an FIR against them for alleged encroachment of government land close to the international airport coming up at Devanahalli. The Tahsildar had claimed that the farm was on encroached land. The petitioners contested the claim and said they would be willing to surrender the land if it belongs to the Government. They said they are ready for a joint survey of the land and urged the court to stay the FIR and all consequent actions. Justice Mohan Shantangouder stayed the FIR and adjourned further hearing on the case.
