Violence in Kodungallur

Thrissur: Sporadic violence was reported in Kodungallur on Friday following a hartal observed by the United Democratic Front (UDF) demanding ‘jhankar’ services in the Mumnambam ferry.
A few persons tried to forcibly close Eriyad Kerala Varma Higher Secondary School. A scuffle ensued when the police tried to prevent the hartal supporters. UDF mandalam chairman P.P. John was injured in the scuffle. He was admitted to hospital.
A few persons attacked the Kerala State Electricity Board Eriyad office, the police said. The UDF claimed that it had no role in the incidents.
