This Day That Age
The President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, visited the National Defence Academy at Khadakvasla on September 27. This was his first official visit to the Academy. Addressing the cadets, the President said: “The work of those who fought for the freedom of the country is over; but the full responsibility of preserving that freedom against aggression from any quarter now rests upon you.” He said he was convinced by what he saw at the Academy that the confidence the country had placed in the National Defence Academy for training young men for the defence of the country was indeed well-placed. He exhorted the cadets to remain happy, strong and courageous so that they could fulfil the high hopes and expectations of the people. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was accompanied by Mr. Y.B. Chavan, Chief Minister of Bombay, and Lt. Gen. P.N. Thapar, G.O.C.-in-C., Southern Command.
