Pundalik nets winner

BANGALORE: Pundalik’s 39th minute strike against Army Red helped BPCL jump into the sole lead even as IOCL was forced to share six goals and split points with Fortis as the action peaked in the Synergy Sports Super division hockey league at the KSHA stadium here on Friday. In the IOCL-Fortis encounter, Diwakar Ram, Kamlesh Parihar and C.H.Cheeyana scored for the former while Dilip Tirkey, Brojen Singh and K.K. Bharat netted for Fortis.

BPCL has 21 points with an unbeaten record and will play IOCL in the decisive match on the final day of the league on Sunday (Sept. 30). Even a draw will suffice for BPCL to win the title but IOCL will need a win as it has only 19 points to show.

The point today has almost sealed the third place for Fortis (14) after its full quota of matches as Army Red (11) has to thrash Canara Bank by almost 10 goals to upstage Fortis.
