NEW DELHI: Counsel for I.U. Khan, one of the two lawyers on whom NDTV had conducted a sting operation this past May showing him trying to suborn a key prosecution witness in the BMW hit-and-run case here of 1999, viewed the original compact discs (CDs) of the operation in the Delhi High Court on Friday.
His counsel viewed the CDs in the presence of the Joint Registrar of the High Court, amicus curiae in the case and counsel for the news channel.
A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justices Manmohan Sarin and S.K. Misra had earlier in the day allowed Mr. Khan’s counsel to view the CDs when he submitted that he wanted to view and compare the CDS with the ones that had been handed over to his client before filing a reply in the contempt of court matter as he felt that there were some discrepancies between the two sets of CDs. Mr. Khan’s counsel viewed the CDs after the court hours. Mediapersons were barred from watching the proceedings.
Meanwhile, the Bench directed Mr. Khan to file his reply to the court’s notice by this coming Monday in any case.
