Former Imphal municipal vice-chairperson shot dead

IMPHAL: The former vice-chairperson of the Imphal Municipal Council, Ningombam Komlatombi (46), was shot dead by two persons in her house on Thursday night. She was having dinner with her family members when the two gunmen attacked her.

Ms. Komlatombi’s daughter Vijaya, 20, sustained bullet injuries in the thigh. The assailants escaped in a car.

The body was handed over to the family after the post-mortem at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal.

Two armed persons raided the house of Ningombam Komlatombi, 46, a former vice chairperson of the Imphal Municipal Council, in Imphal and brutally shot dead while she and other family members were having dinner on Thursday night. She died on the spot.

Her daughter, Vijaya, 20, sustained bullet injuries in her thigh. The assailants escaped in a car. The identity of the gunmen and their motive are not known. The body was taken to her home on Friday after the post-mortem at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences here.

Meanwhile, at least three militants are feared to have been killed in an exchange of fire between two rival outfits on Thursday.
