Cheating charges serious: High Court NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Friday refused to grant bail to a woman in a cheating case involving more than Rs. 1.5 crore, saying that the charges were serious. Dismissing the petition by Neena Gulati, Justice Pradeep Nandrajog said the petitioner had failed to make out a case for bail. The prosecution case against the accused is that she cheated one of her business partners of about Rs. 56 lakh, defaulted on repayment of a loan of about Rs. 41 lakh to the Central Bank of India, and failed to repay another loan that she had taken from a private person. The prosecution said she had set up a beauty parlour-cum-slimming centre at Hauz Khas in South Delhi in partnership with K.S. Tomar who had invested about Rs.56 lakh in the venture. Tomar later decided to withdraw from the business and the two agreed to settle the matter amicably. Neena agreed to pay the amount due to Tomar in instalments and issued cheques to him. But when he went to cash the first of the cheques, it bounced, the prosecution stated. The accused stopped repaying the loan to the bank after some time, charged the prosecution, adding that the accused also failed to repay the loan to the private individual. After issuing cheques to her creditors, Neena transferred all her money into the account of a friend and later withdrew it, leaving nothing for the creditors to withdraw, the prosecution charged.
