Madhur Tankha

NEW DELHI: Aimed at creating public awareness about astronomy, Science Popularisation Association of Communicators and Educators (SPACE), a non-government organisation working at popularising science and astronomy among children, will soon host a number of activities in the Capital.

To begin with, SPACE in collaboration with India Habitat Centre here is organising “Space Race Fest”, a series of programmes, at IHC from October 4 to 8. The United Nations General Assembly had declared in 1999 that October 4 to 10 would be celebrated as World Space Week every year to popularise astronomy. The opening session on “Space Exploration” will be presided over by renowned astronomers.

It will give those interested a chance to interact with Nehru Planetarium Director N. Rathnashree.

“SPACE Model Making Competition” will be held on the third day in which students will make models on the topic of space exploration. The innovative models will be judged by National Science Centre Director Shivaprasad Khened.
