Karnataka triumphs

VIJAYAWADA: Karnataka won the T.N. Pillai Trophy garnering 16 points in the South Zone senior women cricket tournament, which concluded at Anantapur on Friday, according to information reaching here. Tamil Nadu finished runner-up by hauling 14 points.

The scores: Goa 127 in 45.1 overs (Sania Moul three for 25) bt Kerala 84 in 40.4 overs.

Karnataka 95 in 46.3 overs (Subha three for 18) lost to Tamil Nadu 96 for five in 33.3 overs.

Andhra 94 in 42.3 overs lost to Hyderabad 97 for two in 26.3 overs (Vanitha 52 n.o.).

SRR, SEC post wins

SRR & CVR College defeated Andhra Loyola College by 75 runs, while Siddhartha Engineering College scored a six-wicket victory over Kaikaluru’s YVNR Degree College in the Krishna District Cricket Association’s inter-college tournament here on Friday.

The scores: SRR & CVR College 187 in 37.4 overs (Sagar three for 34, Vinesh three for 40) bt ALC 112 in 30 overs (Mastan four for 15).

YVNR College 70 in 24.3 overs lost to Siddhartha Engineering College 73 for four in 12.4 overs.

Andhra team

Eluru G. Bhaskar Rao will skipper the Andhra sub-junior hockey team in the Nationals to be held at Bhopal from October 1, according to Andhra Hockey Association secretary Niranjan Reddy.
