BANGALORE: Burglars struck at three houses in the city on Thursday and looted gold ornaments and silver articles together worth Rs. 5 lakh and Rs. 50,000. The police said the thieves made away with gold jewellery worth Rs. 2 lakh from Bhaskar’s house in SBI Colony, off Bannerghatta Road. The theft took place when Bhaskar and his wife Sugandhi, both SBI employees, had been to work. The MICO Layout police have registered a case. Burglars decamped with three kg silver articles and 250 gm gold ornaments, all worth Rs. 3 lakh, from businessman Ramakrishna’s house on 16th Cross, 2nd Stage, Banashankari. The incident occurred when Ramakrishna had been to his shop, the police said. The Banashankari police have registered a case. In another incident, burglars looted Rs. 50,000 from a first floor house in Shantiniketan Layout in Munekolalu in HAL police station limits. The police said Amith and Mineeth of Bihar, who had recently come here in search of job, had taken the house on rent. The thieves also stole Amith’s passport. The HAL police have registered a case. RobbedFour men robbed a BPO unit cab driver of Rs. 400 and drove away his multi-utility vehicle (MUV) in Hennur police station limits on Thursday. The police said that around 11.30 p.m. four men stopped the MUV on Ring Road, off Nagawara junction, and sought a lift. After travelling some distance, they asked the driver Ravi to stop the vehicle as they wanted to answer nature’s call. The robbers threatened Ravi with knives, dragged him out of the vehicle and sped away. Stabbed to deathAn unidentified man aged around 25 was stabbed to death in City Market police station limits on Thursday. Around 11.30 p.m., night beat policemen noticed four persons stabbing a man on Silver Jubilee Park Road. On seeing the policeman, the assailants ran away. The police rushed the seriously injured man to Victoria Hospital and he died there a few minutes later, the police said. Women murderedTwo women who were allegedly set on fire by their husbands in separate incidents on September 23 died on Thursday night. The police said Maqsood, a resident of Srinivasanagar in Deevarajeevanhalli police station limits, had set on fire his second wife Shahnaz (27) as she had not brought enough dowry. In the other incident, Manjunath, a van driver, allegedly attacked his wife Mamatha (28) with a club and set her on fire at their house in AKG Colony in Kadugodi police station limits. Manjunath torched her as she advised him to quit drinking, the police said. Baby diesOne-year-old Keerthana, who suffered burns in a freak mishap at her house in Srigandhanagar in Rajagoplanagar police station limits on September 20, died at Victoria Hospital on Thursday night. The police said Keerthana, daughter of Jawaraiah, suffered burns when her five-year-old brother inadvertently pushed a vessel containing boiling water onto her while the two were playing in the kitchen.
