Many people found their votes had already been cast KOLAR: Injury to a constable in a mob attack, lathi-charge to disperse an unruly group, proxy voting and fighting between rival candidates marked polling in the elections to the civic bodies in Kolar district on Friday. Cases of trying to influencing voters by distributing gifts and cash. Constable Prakash suffered a serious head injury when a mob at Phoolsha Mohalla in the city attacked the police personnel when the latter tried to disperse them. A group of about 100 persons was loitering in the vicinity of a polling booth in the area which was objected by the police, led by Gulpet sub-inspector (Crime) Sudhakar Reddy. The mob instead of heeding to the warnings of the police attacked them. Mr. Prakash was hit by a stone while Mr. Reddy suffered minor bruises. Returning officers received several complaints about impersonation. When many voters went to the polling booths to exercise their franchise, they were told that their votes had already been cast.
