IGNIZ 07 cultural fete to begin in Kochi on October 4

KOCHI: Curtains will go up on a three-day cultural festival organised by the SCMS School of Engineering and Technology here on October 4.

Titled IGNIZ 07, the event is being billed as an ideal platform for the youth to display their talent and win laurels and money. This is the second time the institution is holding the show, which will be staged at three venues: the SCMS campus on October 4, Karukutty the next day and Town Hall, Kalamasserry, the final day.

The cultural festival will be inaugurated by Kochouseph Chittilapally of V-Guard. G.P.C. Nair, chairman of SCMS, will preside.

A cultural competition, “Rhythm of fire,” will be held on the final day. There will be a slew of programmes, such as “The Vallhalla of Rock” (western Rock band), “What the devil wears next!” (fashion show), “Get Jiggy with it” (group dance) and “Fuze it … ” (fusion music).

There will be a freestyle singing competition, mime, face painting, slow-speed bike race, mock press, extempore, JAM, “Disney on demand” (cartoon character designing), “Cupid” (love-letter writing) and so on. Infotainment events, such as ad film screening, will be unique to the competition, says a press release from the organisers. Selecting the best manager, general quiz and Ad Blitz are some of the other items.

For techies

For the techies, there will be technical-paper presentation, competition in software coding, computer and circuit designing, debugging and microprocessor programming. A technical expo will feature competitive events, such as car designing, auto sketching and modified bike shows.

The title sponsor is Yuvamitra, a youth product of Federal Bank. Fast Track, KRL and Ultratech Cement are the associate partners.

The communication partner is Airtel. The Hindu EducationPlus and YES, the youth channel of Indiavision, are the media partners.
