Arrack seized

Krishnagiri: Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW) personnel arrested 68 persons including 20 women who were involved in brewing arrack, during surprise raids in the district on Saturday.

Following a tip-off, a team conducted surprise raids at Kaveripattinam, Bagalur, Shoolagiri, Nagarasampatti and Singarapettai and destroyed about 2,500 litres of illicitly-distilled arrack and 2,000 litres of fermented wash worth Rs.2.5 lakhs.

The PEW police are investigating.
