THENI: Stern action will be initiated against bankers, who do not attend meetings convened by the district administration to discuss implementation of welfare schemes, Collector Har Sahay Meena has said.
He was addressing a bankers’ meeting at the Collectorate here on Friday.
Expressing concern over the absence of bankers, he said an education loan mela would be convened at Bodinayakkanur on October 8. Absenteeism would certainly affect genuine beneficiaries. “Our aim is to help people enjoy the benefits of the schemes. Action will be taken against those bankers failing to attend such meetings.”
Cash-credit ratio up
Total deposits touched Rs.1,008.63 crore and credits Rs.1,562.12 crore, scaling up the cash-credit ratio by 155 per cent. Orders had been issued to disburse loans to 187 self help groups and 281 persons under the self-employment scheme.
In the first quarter, Rs.144.21 crore had been disbursed for agriculture activities, Rs.11.27 crore for non-farm sector and Rs.45.61 for other sectors.
Mr. Meena appealed to the villagers to open savings bank accounts in nearby banks under a special financial inclusion scheme to avail all banking services.
Reserve Bank Assistant General Manager S. Velusamy and District Rural Development Agency Project Officer C.K. Veeranan were among those who spoke at the meeting.
