PANAJI: Several parts of Bicholim and Sattari taluks in the north Goa’s mining belt suffered huge losses in the flash floods on Wednesday and Thursday following incessant rain. The floods caused extensive damage to property apart from bringing life to a grinding halt, officials said here on Friday. Parts of Sattari and Bicholim taluks, including Sanquelim, were the worst hit. Sanquelim Market, Mavlangtad, Bhandarwada, Varchi Aali, Sunder Peth, Ghoteli and Valus, and Poryem, Keri and Morlem villages have been affected. Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, who visited the flood-hit areas on Friday, said that the incessant rain in the Virdi area on the Maharashtra side of the border resulted in the floods which entered Goa. The State has received a record rainfall of 135 inches this year against last year’s 100 inches, according to the State Meteorological observatory
