KC(S) units to decide on local body tie-ups

ouster from
the LDF.

KOTTAYAM: The Kerala Congress (Secular), on the verge of a vertical split following its ouster from the Left Democratic Front (LDF), has allowed its local units to take appropriate decisions regarding their relation with the LDF in the local self-government institutions in their respective regions.

Giving up posts

Speaking to mediapersons after a meeting of the State committee of the party here on Saturday, party leader P.C. George, MLA, said the party would, however, relinquish all positions given to its members in various corporations and boards.

Slams government

Party chairman T.S. John alleged that the government had succumbed to the pressure from the land and forest ‘mafia’ as was evident from the transfer of the Idukki Collector.

Placing the onus for the turn of events on the Chief Minister, Mr. John said he had proved that he was ready to make any compromise to hold on to power.

The LDF government has failed to fulfil the promises made to the people during the last Assembly elections, Mr. John said and added that the KC(S) will launch an agitation to get them implemented.

The meeting also decided to hold a dawn-to-dusk fast in front of the Secretariat on October 17.
