KUMBAKONAM: Services of 26,000 temporary staff working for the past 25 years in co-operatives ever since 1980 will be regularised said M. K. Stalin, Local Administration Minister at Kumbakonam on Friday.
Distributing two acres of land to beneficiaries at at Kumbakonam, he said that in Thanjavur district alone 1007 staff will be regularised.
Over 1 lakh acres disbursed
Regarding the free land scheme the Minister said that all over the State, 1,03,487 acres have been distributed so far.
The free land distribution was inaugurated on September 17, 2006 at Thiruvallur by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.
The Government was also providing house site pattas to the poor.
Ko.Si.Mani, Co-operation Minister, S.S. Palani Manickam, Union Minister of State for Finance, C. Vijayaraj Kumar, Thanjavur Collector, Karunakaran, District Revenue Officer, Durai Chandrasekaran and Mahesh Krishnaswamy, MLAs, and Thamizhagan, Chairman of Kumbakonam Municipality, participated in the function.
