Rourkela: A district court here has held Pintu alias Sunil Singh of Sundergarh guilty of attempt to murder and has sentenced him to three years’ rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 2000. Passing the order on Friday, First Class Judicial Magistrate M R Satpathy held Sunil Singh guilty of attempting to kill Dukhiram after firing a round from his pistol on July 4, 2004. However, Dukhiram escaped unhurt in the incident. The judge has ordered Singh to undergo an additional two months rigorious imprisonment in the event of default of paying the fine amount. The judge has however, acquitted another accused in the case, Rinku Gupta, in the absence of evidence. (PTI)
