Volunteers of Makkal Tamizhagam Katchi held, released

PUDUKOTTAI: Volunteers of the Makkal Tamizhagam Katchi who tried to launch a black-flag demonstration in support of their demands during Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi’s visit to the town on Friday, courted arrest.

Their demands included representation for the Devendrakula community in the Cabinet and shifting of the Raja Raja Chola’s idol from outside the Big Temple in to its campus. In all 28 volunteers, led by the Tiruchi district secretary Ravivarman, attempted to launch the agitation at Tirukokarnam. They were let off later in the evening.
