Kakinada: A top woman Maoist leader of the East Division of the Andhra-Orissa Border Zonal Committee Korra Manga alias Kavithakka (35), currently working as Gurtedu area committee secretary, surrendered citing health reasons before Inspector-General of Police, Visakhapatnam region, B.L. Meena here on Saturday.
Wanted in 17 cases pertaining to East Godavari and Visakhapatnam districts, she carried a reward of Rs. 2 lakhs on her head. Her husband Chadda Bhushanam alias Khatru was also a key figure in the Maoist ranks being a member of the divisional committee. East Godavari SP B. Srinivasulu said that under the relief and rehabilitation package, Kavithakka would be immediately paid Rs. 5,000 and also the reward amount of Rs. 2 lakhs, besides providing her agricultural land and loan assistance.
