BJP leaders held, released

Special Correspondent

Kurnool: The police held a group of BJP leaders led by State vice-president Baddam Bal Reddy who wanted to tour the troubled areas of Kurnool city here on Saturday.

However, the detained leaders were taken to the city outskirts and sent back to Hyderabad.

The BJP leaders alleged that the police were downplaying the suffering of businessmen and others who suffered huge property loss. They insisted upon visiting the places.

However, the police led by Additional SP Ravinder Reddy, Deputy SP Ramnath and Inspector Rajasekhar Reddy held consultations with the BJP leaders and did not allow them.

Later, they were taken into custody and let off on the outskirts of the city. From there, the BJP leaders proceeded back to Hyderabad.

Among the arrested were Harinath Rao, Kapileswaraiah, Bhaskar and Gopalakrishna
