21,843 anganwadi vacancies to be filled by October-end

Rs. 1 crore to be released under ‘Kishore Shakti Yojana’

HYDELRABAD: All the existing 21,843 vacant posts of workers and helpers in the 80,000 anganwadi centres in the State will be filled by October-end. Instructions to undertake these recruitments have been issued to Collectors and other officials concerned.

Announcing this here on Saturday, Woman Development & Child Welfare Minister N. Rajyalakshmi said the government had also decided to provide buildings to all anganwadi centres. Zilla parishads and mandal parishads had been asked to make 15 per cent of their reserve (earmarked) funds as under the present norms for the purpose.

Meets YSR

The Minister had a meeting with Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy earlier on the issues relating to her department. Ms. Rajyalakshmi said the Chief Minister had ordered for immediate release of the salary (honorarium) arrears due to the anganwadi workers and helpers from July and for payment of salaries to them hereafter on the first day of the month itself.

While the honorarium payable to a worker was Rs 1,400, the Centre and state were contributing Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 400 respectively. Similarly, the Centre and the State were contributed Rs. 500 and 200 towards the honorarium payable to a helper (Rs. 700). However, the State did not release its share for the months from July. The Minister said Rs. 1 crore would be released towards ‘Kishore Shakti Yojana’, a project under implementation for adolescent girls.
