SEOUL: Wimbledon champion Venus Williams advanced to the final of the Korea Open on Saturday after dismantling Flavia Pennetta of Italy 6-2, 6-2 in the semifinals. Tournament top seed Venus will face Maria Kirilenko in the final of the $145,000 event. Venus, who got stronger as the match wore on, was sublime at the net and fizzed serves of more than 200 kph (124 mph) past her World No. 62 opponent. Number four seed Kirilenko of Russia beat fifth seed Eleni Daniilidou of Greece 7-5, 6-0 in the other semifinal. Razzano in finalAt Guangzhou, second-seeded Virginie Razzano of France defeated the fourth-seeded Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia on Saturday to advance to the final of the Guangzhou International Open. Razzano bounced back from a slow start to post a 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 win over Cibulkova and will meet Israel’s Tzipora Obziler in Sunday’s final. Unseeded Obziler defeated Russia’s Anastasia Rodionova, who was forced to retire due to the heat after trailing 6-1, 3-1.
