Cash looted from ATM

BANGALORE: In a first for the city, burglars on Friday night smashed an ATM in HAL police station limits and looted Rs. 1.8 lakh.

The police said the incident occurred at Indian Bank’s ATM counter near New Horizon Engineering College at Kadubeesanahalli. There were no security guards at the ATM counter, the police said.

On Saturday morning, security staff from the college noticed that the ATM counter had been ransacked and alerted the police. The HAL police, who have registered a case, are investigating how the thieves looted money from the ATM. They are taking the help of the bank authorities in the investigations.

Though thieves had targeted several ATM counters in the city in the past, they had not succeeded in looting the money.
