Exploitation of patients

It is always easy to cheat and exploit someone when he is weak. And it is happening at the MKCG Medical College Hospital. Recently a friend of mine had to carry to the casualty section of the medical college hospital as he had developed a cardiac stroke. As initial measure the medical technician present at the casualty section made ECG tests at regular intervals. As per his demand Rs. 100 was paid for each ECG test. Later he also gave receipts for the ECG tests done. Ironically the receipts were for Rs. 75 each, which is the prescribed rate for ECG at the medical college hospital. The technician demanded Rs. 100 and collected the same from the relatives of the patient in the presence of doctors and others present at the casualty section.

The relatives of the patient were in no position to argue over the cheating as they were in a hurry to get the patient admitted in the ICU to save him. This may be a small case of exploitation but it speaks of the mind of people who are ready to cheat people in plight.

Cricket mania

Political leaders always try to hog the limelight whether they are in public meeting or holding chief ministers’ chair. After recent T20 World Victory, the way chief ministers joined the race of heaping prize money on members of Indian Cricket Team need to be debated publicly.

Should governments sway away by hysterical coverage of T20 World Cup by media and then fans at large? Where are these State Governments as well as the Centre when Indian Hockey team won the Asia Cup? Chief Ministers and Union ministers behaved after the cup victory as if India became super power in world.

Hockey players rightly made their points straight by waking up the administrators. Media is another culprit. Several editors came to interview cricket players after the victory. But how many were of them seen taking interviews of hockey players after Asia Cup? Not all editors even depute their reporters to cover the hockey tournaments.

This is a collective ignorance to other sports, we must amend our approach.

Kudos to Team India

It is quite heartening to see that the Team India has become the world champions in the recently concluded Twenty-20 ICC World Cup. It clearly shows that no coach is required if dedication, interest, oneness, zeal and enthusiasm are there and the able leadership of captain of the ship is in a right path. Captain M.S. Dhoni along with other players really deserves the appreciation from all quarters.

It is the high time that the BCCI look into this aspect and see that the players concentrate in quality playing instead of hankering to other fields such as advertisement, modelling etc. After all they are getting a handsome amount for playing for the country.

Snap poll

A mid-term general election is looming large over India. The ‘forced marriage’ is finally on verge of breaking. From the day one, Congress knew character of Left Parties and latter knew about former’s policies. So why was the marriage and then break up? People of the country are going to bear huge burden due to the low level of maturity among political parties. Communists know they are comfortable in proximity with China, Congress feels the country should tilt where power exists. The N-Deal proved to be a flash point in which the stark differences came out to open. The need of the hour is to move cautiously and avoid burdening people.
