The Congress has an absolute majority in Hanur Town Panchayat Chamarajanagar: The Janata Dal(Secular) party has got a clear majority in Kollegal City Municipal Council and Gundlepet Town Muncipal Council. The Congress and Janata Dal(Secular) candidates were put up in all the 11 wards of Yelandur Town Panchayat. The Congress won in four wards, the BJP and the Janata Dal(Secular) in two wards each and Independents in three wards. In elections to the Chamarajanagar City Muncipal Council(CMC), the Congress won only in 9 of the 31 wards. The Janata Dal(Secular) has won in eight wards, BJP in six, the Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha in five, the BSP in one and the Independents in two wards. In Kollegal City Muncipal Council, the Janata Dal(Secular) has won in 17 wards, winning an absolute majority to take over the CMC. The Congress has won in nine wards, the BJP and the BSP in one ward each and the Independents in three wards. In Gundlepet Town Muncipality, the Janata Dal(Secular) has got an absolute majority. Its candidates have won in 16 wards and those of the Congress in seven wards.
The Congress has got an absolute majority in Hanur Town Panchayat, with its candidates having won in seven of the 13 wards. The Janata Dal(Secular) has won in four wards and the Independents in two wards.
This time, the Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) has been successful in opening its account in Kollegal and Chamarajanagar CMCs.
