Sirsi: It is a mixed bag of results for political parties in the urban local body elections in Uttara Kannada district, the results of which were announced on Sunday. The Congress has established clear majority in Karwar and Haliyal urban local bodies. The Bharatiya Janata Party has won in Sirsi and Ankola urban local bodies, the Janata Dal (Secular) in Dandeli and independents have the majority in Bhatkal urban local body. However, no single party has got clear majority in the local bodies in Siddapur, Mundagod, Kumta, Honnavar and Yellapur. Of the 31 seats in Karwar, Congress has won 17, BJP five, Janata Dal (S) two and Independents have won seven seats. In Sirsi, of the 31 seats, BJP has won 16, Congress nine, Samajwadi Party (SP) five and Independent candidate has one seat. Of the 18 seats in Yellapur, Congress has won seven, Janata Dal (S) six, BJP four and SP has won one seat. Of the 14 seats in Ankola, BJP has won nine, Congress four and Janata Dal (S) has won one seat. In Honnavar, of the 17 seats, Congress has won seven, BJP six, Independents three and SP one seat. In Haliyal, of the 20 seats, Congress has won 10, Janata Dal (S) nine, Independent candidate has one seat. Of the 23 seats in Bhatkal, Independents have won 18, BJP three and Congress has won two seats. Of the 31 seats in Dandeli, Janata Dal (S) has won 16, Congress six, Independents five and BJP has won four seats. Of the 16 seats in Mundagod, BJP has won six, Congress five and Janata Dal (S) has won five seats. In Kumta, of the 23 seats, Congress has on eight, Janata Dal (S) eight and BJP has won seven seats. In Siddapur, of the 14 seats, BJP has won five, Congress four, Independents have won four and SP has won one seat.
